GRACE BARBÉ AFRO-KREOL WORKSHOP OUTLINE KREOL CUISINE
Grace Barbé and her band members demonstrate how to cook Coconut Fish Curry & Chutney seved with Rice, a traditional Kreol recipe from the Seychelles. Kreol cuisine (much like the Kreol people) is a colourful and spicy mix of influences from India, Asia, Africa, Madagascar, Europe and Arabia. Grace will discuss the cuisine, culture and history of the Kreol people, and may even teach the audience to sing a traditional sega!

GRACE BARBÉ AFRO-KREOL WORKSHOP OUTLINE SEGA! – RHYTHMS
Grace Barbé and band members will play and talk about the sega and other traditional rhythms from the Indian
Ocean islands of Seychelles, Mauritius and La Reunion. The band will demonstrate sega rhythms using the
traditional instruments; triangle, ravanne and maravanne. The audience will learn to sing a traditional sega from
the Seychelles along with the accompanying dance steps. The workshop will end with a short performance from
Grace Barbé Afro-Kreol demonstrating modern sega, seggae and mutya.
